Holy Week 2020 Tuesday

Holy Week

Day Two

Mathew 21:42-44

Jesus said to them, "Have you not read the Scriptures; ' The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone. This was the Lord's doing and it is marvelous in our eyes' ? :Therefore I say to you, that the kingdom of God will be taken from you and given to a nation bearing the fruits of it. And whoever falls on this stone will not be broken; but on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder." Now the when the chief priests and the Pharisees heard His parables they knew that He was speaking about them.

Jesus Reminds Us that we need to bear fruit in faith.

Just prior to our passage Jesus told a parable about some wicked vinedressers that killed the owner's son so they could keep the profits for themselves and then He quotes Psalm 118:22-23 with an explanation of what it means and that He is the Chief Cornerstone. Telling us that we need to fall on Him for our salvation for "whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Romans 10:13). It takes faith, trust, in that Chief Cornerstone falling on it with all our brokenness, failures, and fears believing that you will find help and grace in the stone that is Jesus. Jesus also tells us that the Kingdom of God will be given to those who bear the fruit of it. We should bear the fruit of the Kingdom; Love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, and self control. This fruit is meant to be shared with others. The parable of the wicked vinedressers showed that they wanted to keep it for themselves but God's kingdom is meant to be shared with others. Go in faith today bearing fruit in faith.
